Institutional Scholarships

Note: Incoming students are considered for recruitment scholarships based on their full admissions application and interviews. Beginning with the Fall 2026 entering cohort, students are encouraged to submit the Supplemental Need-Based Scholarship Application alongside the Secondary Application. This optional scholarship application will be used for consideration of need-based scholarships. These data will not be used for admissions consideration. Students are encouraged to submit the Supplemental Need-Based Scholarship Application prior to their interview date for consideration.

There is a two-step process to be considered for the Heersink School of Medicine institutional scholarship:

Step One: Complete the Scholarship Application

Log into BSMART using your BlazerID and password to submit a scholarship application. The scholarship application consists of your student demographic information (prepopulated) and additional questions.

Step Two: Complete the Free Application Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Scholarship applicants and recipients are encouraged to provide financial information by completing the FAFSA annually. Be sure to designate UAB as the school to receive your FAFSA.
