Mental Health Advocate Program graphicThe UAB Enterprise Mental Health Advocate Program offers you a platform to showcase your commitment to promoting a culture of mental health awareness at UAB. As a trained UAB Mental Health Advocate, you are empowered to identify peers in distress, provide guidance, and recommend mental health resources for the UAB community. And by proudly displaying a Mental Health Advocate Badge, you can inspire others to prioritize well- being in their own lives.

Please note, UAB Mental Health Advocates are NOT trained to offer mental health or crisis counseling and coaching.

What’s New in 2025: The UAB Enterprise Mental Health Advocate Program has been updated as of Fall 2025. The new program now features...

  • Four levels of training with training opportunities for students, faculty/staff and UAB Medicine employees
  • A new student-supporting learning path for faculty and staff who work directly with students and want to learn how to respond to and support student mental health
  • 100 percent self-paced curriculum for all Level 1 learning paths, making it easier for new Advocates to train on their own schedule and at their own pace
