A protocol is required when research includes:
- A) Any live vertebrate animal
- B) Tissues from a vertebrate animal that was either manipulated for research prior to euthanasia and/or euthanized specifically for research
- C) Invertebrate animals housed in the ARP animal facility and/or invertebrates in contact with vertebrate animals
A few quick tips to remember:
- New or transferring investigators should visit the IRAP Access site for steps to obtaining access for protocol submission
- More than one grant may be associated with a protocol if the objectives and procedures are similar.
- Grants already submitted to OSP do not need to be attached to the protocol. Grants or proposals not yet submitted to OSP must be attached in the Funding section.
- Answer all questions on the protocol form and asked by reviewers for a faster review.
- Training and health enrollment must be completed prior to approval.
