Staff Employee of the Month

Monthly nominations will be presented by members of the Committee for Access and Engagement to the Pathology Leadership Committee one week in advance of their monthly meeting. After having reviewed nominations, members of the Pathology Leadership Committee will vote on the month’s winner to conclude each meeting. In the event that the Pathology Leadership Committee does not come to a unanimous decision, the chair and executive administrator will make the final decision.

• Regular-status staff members (administration, research, or clinical) in the Department of Pathology with at least twelve months of continuous service with the department.
• Past Employees of the Month become eligible again twelve months after their selection.

Eligibility is independent of ethnicity, race, color, national origin, gender, gender expression, age, faith, religion, political affiliation, sexual orientation, physical appearance, disability, or veteran status.

Each month, any UAB or HSF employee of the department — staff, faculty, division directors, and administrators alike — can nominate a colleague for Staff Employee of the Month.

• Nominations are open from the 25th through the 10th of the following month. A nomination submitted after the 10th counts toward the following month. Winners will be notified by the last week of the month.
• Write your nominee’s name and tell us, in your own words, why they deserve recognition. Your words are what the Pathology Leadership Committee reads, so specifics beat superlatives.
• One nomination per person per month. Make it count.
• You may not nominate yourself.

Nominees for Staff Employee of the Month should be individuals who make a daily commitment to excellence in the Department of Pathology. This excellence may take many forms, which is why nomination specifics are essential. Factors to consider when nominating include:

• the quality of their work
• the treatment of their colleagues
• the dedication to their service
• the stewardship of their resources

• Staff Employee of the Month: Signed certificate, $50 award (reported as taxable income), newsletter recognition
• Staff Employee of the Year: Plaque, $500 award (reported as taxable income), written featured article recognition
