The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine invites applications and nominations for the position of Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professional Development.

As a key member of the Dean's senior leadership team, the Senior Associate Dean will provide strategic vision and executive oversight for faculty affairs, leadership development, wellness, and access and engagement initiatives across the Heersink School of Medicine.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Medicine and Dean, the Senior Associate Dean will serve as a trusted advisor and collaborative partner to the School, University, Health System, and external leaders. The successful candidate will champion a comprehensive strategy that supports faculty achievement and engagement throughout the career lifecycle while strengthening the School's leadership capacity, culture, and organizational effectiveness.

In this role, the Senior Associate Dean will provide leadership and oversight for the Offices of Faculty Affairs, Leadership Development, Wellness, and Access and Engagement. Working closely with department chairs, division directors, faculty leaders, and institutional partners, this individual will advance initiatives that support faculty recruitment, retention, recognition, advancement, and leadership development while fostering a culture of engagement, belonging, and well-being.

The successful candidate will be a distinguished and collaborative academic leader with demonstrated success building partnerships across complex organizations, leading organizational and cultural change, and advancing faculty excellence within academic medicine. They will possess a strategic mindset, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a commitment to fostering an environment where faculty, staff, and leaders can achieve their highest potential.
