CAS Community,
The fall semester is here, and the incoming class is a large one! These new students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in innovative academic programs such as a new Graphic and Digital Design concentration in the Department of Art and Art History, as well as a rapidly growing new concentration in Music Therapy that is offered by the Department of Music. Our new Human Rights major is also growing.
We are excited to launch an interdisciplinary minor in Cancer Biology that is a collaboration between the Department of Chemistry and the Heersink School of Medicine. The Department of Political Science and Public Administration is also launching the university’s new interdisciplinary minor in Research Administration and Management. This credential will prepare our students to fill the growing staff needs of universities and research labs across the country. These new programs are a reflection of the mission of the College’s strategic plan, which ensures that each student leaves UAB with the knowledge and tools to succeed in an expanding and increasingly connected world.
As I begin my second term as the dean of CAS, I am energized by the creativity, brilliance, and passion of our faculty in their efforts to educate and serve all of our students, and I am humbled by your continuing support of the College.
