Scott A. Grumley, M.D. received his BS in Biology from Emory University, followed by medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During his UAB intern year he received the Argus Award for Best Teaching Intern. He served as Chief Resident during his tenure in the UAB Department of Radiology and completed an Abdominal Imaging fellowship. After 16 years in private practice, he has returned to UAB, serving in the Cardiopulmonary division.

Outside the reading room, Dr. Grumley has attempted to find balance, dabbling in swimming, biking, and running, sometimes on the same day.

Hrudaya Nath, M.D., completed his training in Poona and Vellore India at the Armed Forces Medical College and the Christian Medical College Hospitals, respectively. After completing his training in India, Dr. Nath also did additional Residency Training at the North Carolina Memorial Hospital at Chapel Hill, North Carolina followed by a Fellowship in CV Radiology at the University of Minnesota Hospitals in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Dr. Nath served as first Instructor then Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina before moving to the University of Alabama in 1982 as Associate Professor, moving on to Professor, then Director of CVMRI. Dr. Nath has served on many prestigious committees during his tenure at UAB including the UAB Heersink School of Medicine Admissions Committee, Radiation Exposure Committee, UAB Strategic Planning Committee, Radiology Department Tenure and Promotions Committee (both as co-chair and chair). In addition to his many services to UAB, he has also served on many committees outside of our institution such as the STR Training Committee, SCCT Research and Clinical Trial Committee, ACR Committee on CT Accreditation, and NASCI and STR Curriculum Committees.

Dr. Nath’s area of clinical practice is Cardiopulmonary Radiology, both in adults and children.

Srini Tridandapani, Ph.D., M.D., MBA

Srini Tridandapani earned the B.E. degree in electronics and communication engineering from Anna University, Chennai, India, and the M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Washington, Seattle, both in electrical engineering. After postdoctoral training in computer science at the University of California, Davis, he was an Assistant Professor of electrical and computer engineering at Iowa State University, Ames. Committed to making a direct clinical impact, Srini then took the bold plunge and entered medical school at the University Michigan, Ann Arbor, receiving the M.D. degree with distinction in research. He then completed residency training in radiology also the University of Michigan. Moving to Emory University, Srini received clinical fellowships in cardiothoracic imaging and abdominal imaging. He subsequently earned an MSCR (clinical and translational research) and an M.B.A. from Emory University, Atlanta, GA.

He is currently a Professor and Vice Chair for Imaging Informatics in the Department of Radiology at University of Alabama, an Adjunct Professor with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta.

Srini developed novel gating strategies for optimizing cardiac computed tomography funded by a K23 from the National Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. Subsequently, he has been funded by NSF and NIH SBIR grants to his start-up, Camerad Technologies, which is commercializing a technology to increase quality and patient safety in medical imaging.

Srini has published over 75 peer-reviewed manuscripts and full-length conference proceedings, secured three US patents, and has provided over 75 invited lectures at local, regional, national and international institutions of higher learning and conferences.

Srini is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine (JTEHM), an Associate Editor of the ACR Case-in-Point, and an Assistant Editor of the American Journal of Roentgenology. He serves on numerous national committees in both engineering and radiology. He is the chair of the RSNA Research Study Section, and has served as a reviewer for the NSF, the NIH, and the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, and the ARRS Scholar Awards. Srini is a member of the Roentgen Fund Board of Trustees, and a past president of the Radiology Research Alliance (RRA) of the AUR. He is a member of the editorial steering committee of IEEE JTEHM and a past co-chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Translational Engineering for Healthcare Innovations.

He has earned numerous prestigious honors and awards including membership in the Eta Kappa Nu (Electrical Engineering Honors Society) and the Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honors Society), the New Investigator Award from the AUR RRA, the Melvin M. Figley Fellowship in Radiology Journalism, Top Reviewer awards from Academic Radiology and the AJR for several years. His paper on integrating photography along with medical imaging studies was the most downloaded paper from the Journal of Digital Imaging in 2013.

Srini enjoys mentoring engineering graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, medical students and residents.
