Christina Lundeen, BSN, RN, a clinical care coordinator in the UAB Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery, has been named a 2025 Patient Experience Hero by UAB's Office of Patient Experience and Engagement.
Recipients were recognized based on the following criteria:

She is an outstanding team member and is always willing to assist those around her,” says UAB Division Director of Gastrointestinal Surgery Daniel Chu, M.D., MSPH.
About Lundeen
Lundeen is originally from Meridian, MS and began her healthcare journey by earning an Associate's Degree of Science in Nursing in 2000 from the University of West Alabama. In 2001, she relocated to Birmingham and began working in the Cardiac Interventional Unit at Brookwood Medical Center. In 2002, she accepted a position in a local outpatient Endoscopy/Surgery center as a Gastrointestinal procedure nurse. Her role involved managing the care of patients undergoing and recovering from endoscopic and outpatient surgical procedures.
After twelve years as a procedural nurse, Lundeen joined the UAB Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery as a clinical care coordinator – a role she has held for eleven years, where she has demonstrated excellence in patient care. Lundeen is responsible for managing outpatient clinical practice, including scheduling surgeries, coordinating patient care, explaining diagnostic results and care plans, patient education, and addressing post-operative concerns. She works with the minimally invasive and bariatric surgery programs.
Throughout her career, she has pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Galen College of Nursing, graduating summa cum laude in 2023. Additionally, Lundeen was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and received the Dr. Tracy Ortelli Leadership in Nursing Award in the same year. As evidenced by her commitment to excellence and continuing education, Lundeen has committed herself to delivering exceptional patient care during her eleven years of service at UAB.
