The Department of Radiation Oncology is proud to announce the promotion of Michael Soike, M.D., to associate professor of Radiation Oncology.
"Dr. Soike is an exceptional clinician, gifted educator, and a driving force behind our adaptive radiotherapy program,” said Corey Speers, M.D., Ph.D., Merle M. Salter, M.D. Endowed Chair of the UAB Department of Radiation Oncology. “His leadership and commitment to innovation have elevated care for our patients and set a high standard for our entire department. We are grateful for his continued efforts and celebrate this promotion with him.”

He also earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Davidson College.
At UAB, Soike’s clinical and research interests include gastrointestinal cancers, hematology, lymphoma, pediatrics, and proton therapy. His work reflects a commitment to advancing patient-centered care and expanding treatment options for complex cancer cases.
Soike has received numerous honors recognizing both his clinical expertise and research contributions. That same year, he received the Lung Cancer Initiative Grant, the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Department of Pathology Investigative Science Award and participated in the prestigious AACR/ASCO Clinical Trials Workshop, where he designed a protocol to address the needs of caregivers of glioma patients.
In addition to his clinical and research achievements, Soike plays an important role as a mentor and educator, helping to guide trainees in the department while continuing to expand the use of advanced radiation therapies, including proton therapy.
