The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) is pleased to name Elizabeth Twist, M.D. the new assistant program director for the PM&R residency program, effective September 1. She will work closely with Dale Colorado, D.O., program director, and Michelle Turnley, M.D., associate program director, on all aspects of the PM&R residency program.
“I am honored to start the role of assistant program director for our PM&R residency program! In this role I am excited to work closely with our residents in supporting their growth and success throughout training. I am looking forward to learning more about graduate medical education and to contribute to the ongoing development of our amazing program,” says Twist.
Twist is an assistant professor in the Department of PM&R and dual board certified in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine and physical medicine & rehabilitation. She currently serves on the Clinical Competency Committee and as the rotation director for the PGY1 PM&R rotation. She is a Clinical Skills Scholar for the UAB Heersink School of Medicine. She completed her PM&R residency and SCI fellowship at MetroHealth/Case Western Reserve University, where she also served as chief resident.
