Kayla Bird, D.O., Instructor in the Division of Academic General Pediatrics
Amr Hammouda, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology
Rachel Roark, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology
Kayla Bird, D.O., instructor in the Division of Academic General Pediatrics, earned her osteopathic medical degree from Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Smith, AR. Dr. Bird completed her residency in general pediatrics at the University of Arizona Tucson in Tucson, AZ. Her interests include global health and medical education, with special interests in access to medical care and family-centered medical care. Dr. Bird attended UAB for undergrad, and is so excited to be back in Birmingham!
Amr Hammouda, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology, earned his medical degree from the University of Alexandria in Egypt. Dr. Hammouda completed his residency and chief residency in general pediatrics through the University of Florida-Gainesville program at its Pensacola campus in Milton, FL. He then completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama, followed by a year of advanced cardiac imaging training at Northwestern University/Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago in Chicago, IL. His interests include cross-sectional cardiac imaging and the use of ultrasound-enhancing agents in pediatrics.
Rachel Roark, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, earned her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR. Dr. Roark completed her residency in general pediatrics at University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL and she completed her pediatric sleep medicine fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL. Her clinical interests include behavioral sleep medicine, sleep disordered breathing, pediatric PAP therapy, and quality improvement.
