The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Pediatrics is proud to announce that Sandeep Gupta, M.D., professor in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition, has been reappointed editor in chief of the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition (JPGN) and JPGN Reports, two leading journals in the field.

Gupta will continue in this role for another five-year term through December 2030. Both journals are co-owned by the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) and the European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) and have a significant global footprint within pediatric medicine.

“It is a privilege and honor for me to serve in this important role,” said Gupta. “This role shines light on UAB, with us being the editorial office of two global journals, it enhances name recognition of our institution.”

By leading the editorial direction of two internationally recognized journals, Gupta continues to elevate the Department of Pediatrics and highlight UAB’s presence in advancing pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition worldwide.
