54540145683_e60b96ce38_b.jpgThe Department of Pathology is thrilled to announce a new faculty member joining our team August 1.

Mohamed Masoud, M.D., a recent hematopathology fellow in the UAB Department of Pathology, is joining the Community Practice Pathology Program as an assistant professor. Masoud will oversee pathology efforts for Baptist Medical Center East in Montgomery.

Masoud earned his medical degree in 2003 from Ain Shams University School of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt, before completing four years of residency training in internal medicine at Cairo Transport Hospital in 2009.

In 2017, Masoud joined SiParadigm Diagnostic Informatics in Montville, New Jersey, as a pathology assistant for one year before working as a specialist in poison information at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan until 2020. He completed his anatomic and clinical pathology residency training at the University of South Alabama in 2024.

Masoud is currently a member of the College of American Pathologists Society (CAP) and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
