One ambulatory clinic in the UAB Department of Neurology has recently achieved outstanding results in patient experience. The UAB Medicine Office of Patient Experience and Engagement recently reported performance levels from July 1 through Sept. 30, 2025, across all UAB ambulatory settings, showing that the UAB Neuro-Oncology Clinic, located in The Kirklin Clinic, achieved a Level 5 rating.
“This recognition reflects your team’s outstanding commitment to delivering exceptional patient experiences and consistently upholding the highest standards of care,” the Office of Patient Experience and Engagement states.
Patient experience is measured using the Net Promoter Score, a nationally recognized metric that gauges a patient’s likelihood of recommending a clinic to others. Surveys ask patients to rate their likelihood of recommending the clinic on a scale of 0 to 10.
In the rating system, Level 3 represents meeting the goal, while Levels 4 and 5 reflect performance that exceeds expectations, with Level 5 being the highest level of achievement.
The UAB Neuro-Oncology Clinic earned a 97.4 rating, which reflects a remarkably high level of consistency in delivering quality patient care over time, extending beyond the measurement period.
"This is a reflection of the hard work and patient-focused dedication of the entire team - from our office staff and access center personnel to the Neuroscience One staff beginning at the registration desk through the entire encounter," said Burt Nabors, M.D., director of the Division of Neuro-Oncology and Distinguished Professor in the Department of Neurology.
"This is a great effort and recognition for this special and dedicated group," he continued, adding that his team is always looking for ways to improve the clinic experience for patients and their families.
The UAB Neuro-Oncology Clinic is recognized as one of the top programs of its kind in the nation, supported by the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, which is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Alabama. As a regional referral center, the clinic offers access to groundbreaking treatments and compassionate, complete care for patients with primary brain and spinal cord tumors, nervous system metastases, and neurologic complications of cancer.
