The Family Medicine Clinic at UAB Hospital-Highlands has recently achieved outstanding results in patient experience, earning an extraordinary 100 rating. The UAB Medicine Office of Patient Experience and Engagement recently reported performance levels from July 1 through Sept. 30, 2025, across all UAB ambulatory settings, showing that the clinic achieved a Level 5 rating.
“These recognitions are more than just numbers. They represent the real experiences of our patients and the exceptional efforts of our teams,” the Office of Patient Experience and Engagement stated in an announcement.
Patient experience is measured using the Net Promoter Score, a nationally recognized metric that gauges a patient’s likelihood of recommending a clinic to others. Surveys ask patients to rate their likelihood of recommending the clinic on a scale of 0 to 10.
In the rating system, Level 3 represents meeting the goal, while Levels 4 and 5 reflect performance that exceeds expectations, with Level 5 being the highest level of achievement.
The Highlands Family Medicine Clinic’s 100 rating reflects a remarkably high level of consistency in delivering quality patient care over time.
"The providers and team within the Highlands Family Medicine Clinic are incredibly committed to serving our patients and this is a reflection of their hard work and patient-focused dedication," said Erin DeLaney, M.D., vice chair of clinical affairs and quality in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. "It is a privilege to do what we do and walk beside our patients through their whole life’s journey. I am honored that our patients trust our clinics and feel so seen, heard, and respected that they would recommend us to others.”
In the past year, the Family Medicine Clinic at UAB Hospital-Highlands has also worked to expand access to care by enhancing prenatal and pediatric care options, as well as offering same-day, urgent care appointments with our resident physicians and APPs. This walk-in clinic for Highlands Family Medicine patients treats everything from cold and flu symptoms, sprains, cuts and burns to allergic reactions, urinary symptoms, and women's health concerns.
