Biography

Professor Ming Meng, from the Department of Neurobiology at UAB, earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University and completed his postdoctoral training at MIT. He has held tenure-track academic positions, including Assistant Professor at Dartmouth College and Pearl River Distinguished Professor at South China Normal University. He currently serves on the Board of Reviewing Editors for eLife, the Cognition Editorial Section Board for Behavioral Sciences, and as a Consulting Editor for Visual Cognition. His lab integrates neuroimaging, computational modeling, and psychophysical experimentation to investigate the neural mechanisms of sensory processing, attention, and mental representation, both with and without perceptual awareness. These mechanisms are linked to activity within the broader sensory and attentional neural networks, spanning the occipital, temporal, and parietal lobes across both hemispheres. His research provides insights into typical behavioral patterns, advances our understanding of neurological sensory processing disorders, and facilitates compensation and rehabilitation of sensory impairments.
