Looking to take advantage of the growing AI trend?
UAB’s AI website is home to everything AI for campus, from events on the campus calendar to campus guidelines can be found in one central location. And on the Tools tab, users can find a variety of items that have been approved for campus use:
- Microsoft Copilot with Data Protection: A free, secure AI chat assistant that can help with such tasks as searching for information, summarizing text, generating images and writing code. This is available for faculty, staff, and students to use.
- Adobe Firefly: A suite of generative AI tools available in Adobe Creative Cloud, which can be used for generating image concepts and styling them based on your inputs. Anyone with an Adobe Creative Cloud license can utilize Firefly.
- Zoom AI Companion: This is the only UAB-approved AI assistant for Zoom. When enabled by meeting hosts, this built-in companion helps bring communication and collaboration across campus, all while being secure. This is available for faculty and staff.
- Box AI: AI assistant for Box allows you to create and analyze content while still being secure at the enterprise level. When viewing a document in the preview window, users can tap the AI button and chat to ask questions. Box AI is currently available for faculty and staff to use.
Before you start using these tools, it is important to understand the guidelines and principles of AI usage on campus. Keep “humans in the loop,” meaning that before you use the output from an AI tool, it should be reviewed and edited. AI should be used for ideation purposes, and from there creations can be built. At the end of the day, you are accountable for the way AI is handled.
