Effective Friday, May 9, the southern portion of 16th Street South between 7th Avenue and University Boulevard will be closed through the end of the year. Facilities is closing this portion of the road for the next phase in the ongoing construction of the new Biomedical Research and Psychology Building. Access to the Children's Hospital 7th Avenue Deck will remain open from the 7th Avenue side.

The section of 16th Street between 7th Avenue and University Boulevard will undergo intermittent night and weekend closures through the end of November.

These closures are required for ongoing construction of the Biomedical Research and Psychology Building as well as Volker Hall Atrium and will include an additional weekend closure on November 2nd and 3rd for a crane delivery. The road is expected to reopen in time for regular traffic on Monday morning. Detailed road closures can be viewed on the UAB Construction Map.
