Ann Marie Karaki, MA, CPP, Director of Continuing Dental Education for the UAB School of Dentistry, has assumed the role of President of the Association for Continuing Dental Education (ACDE), following her term as President-Elect. Her presidency was formalized at the ACDE Annual Session held July 26–29, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Since joining UAB, Karaki has played a key role in shaping the school’s continuing education offerings. Among her notable contributions is the Dental Hygiene Symposium and Hinman Lecture, a dynamic two-day event she launched that has grown into one of Alabama’s largest hybrid dental meetings. Drawing more than 1,200 attendees annually, the symposium brings together hygienists, assistants, office managers, and dentists from across the region for an energizing blend of expert-led education, professional networking, and innovation.
The ACDE, founded in 1991 through the merger of two regional associations, represents continuing dental education providers from dental schools across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. It serves as a collaborative forum for university-based CDE directors, promoting high standards in continuing education and advancing public oral health.
“It is an honor to serve as ACDE President,” Karaki said. “I’m proud to represent UAB and to work alongside colleagues across North America who are committed to advancing lifelong learning and improving oral health outcomes through high-quality continuing education.”
