About the Program

If you want to expand your expertise and provide more comprehensive services to adults with vision impairments, UAB's Graduate Certificate in Vision Rehabilitation Graduate Certificate will help you develop the knowledge and clinical skills to do so. Through practical, evidence-based coursework, you'll learn how to to apply vision rehabilitation strategies across a variety of practice settings.

Our faculty bring extensive clinical, teaching, and research experience in vision rehabilitation. You’ll learn from professionals with expertise in low vision, blindness rehabilitation, neurological vision impairment, assistive technology, and other areas relevant to helping adults with vision loss participate more fully in daily life.

We understand your busy schedule, so we’ve designed this program for flexibility. You’ll take one course per semester over six semesters, completing 18 credit hours focused on low vision rehabilitation, blindness rehabilitation, medical conditions, screening and assessment, intervention strategies, assistive technologies and optical devices, functional mobility, and visual impairments related to brain injury. The program concludes with an intensive two-day on-campus seminar that provides hands-on experience to help you integrate and apply your knowledge effectively.

Delivery Method

This program delivers its coursework 100% online, with a single on-campus requirement: a two-day intensive seminar completed during the final summer semester. Please contact the program director for more information.
